What does ELA measure?
Third-Grade Milestones ELA Proficient, this is the percentage of all third-grade students achieving proficient learner or above on third-grade Milestones English Language Arts (ELA) assessment.
Data Source
The third-grade Milestones ELA and above rates are calculated based on annual student assessment. Data are collected in each school and reported to the Department of Education (DOE). Data are managed and reported by the GaDOE.
Why is ELA important?
The Milestones ELA assessment is the Georgia ” Milestones ELA” assessment that’s used in discerning grade-level reading proficiency. There are four possible performance levels: Beginning Learner, Developing Learner, Proficient Learner, and Distinguished Learner. The proficient and above level denotes a child who is ready to enter fourth grade reading at grade level.
